Retired IAS officer Subodh Agarwal has voluntarily appeared before the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Delhi, signaling his willingness to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
As per details shared by his legal counsel, Amit Kaviya, a formal communication was submitted to the ACB informing them of Mr. Agarwal’s appearance before the investigating authorities. The letter explicitly mentioned that he was “voluntarily appearing before the investigation officer to extend cooperation in the ongoing probe,” highlighting his intent to assist the legal process.
Although there were earlier difficulties in establishing contact with him over the past few weeks, his decision to present himself is being viewed as a positive and constructive step toward ensuring transparency and addressing the matter responsibly.
The investigation relates to contracts awarded under the Jal Jeevan Mission, involving two firms and project allocations worth approximately ₹960 crore. Authorities are currently examining procedural aspects, particularly concerning the submission of work completion certificates.
A 1988-batch IAS officer, Subodh Agarwal retired on December 31, 2025, after a long and notable career in public administration. He held several key positions, including serving as Additional Chief Secretary in the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).
Officials have already initiated action against multiple individuals linked to the case, and the probe is ongoing as per due legal procedures.
Launched in 2019, the Jal Jeevan Mission is a flagship programme of the Government of India aimed at providing functional household tap connections to rural households, thereby improving access to safe drinking water across the country.
